Notable Crossover Stories

Kimbo Slice: The Original Crossover

Kevin Ferguson went from backyard fights in Miami to YouTube stardom to Bellator MMA to the UFC. His path inspired a generation of underground fighters to pursue professional careers. While his MMA record (5-2) was modest, his cultural impact was enormous.

Jorge Masvidal: Full Circle

Masvidal began fighting in backyards in Miami, turned professional, reached the UFC title picture, and then returned to the underground space as the founder of Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA. He represents the rarest crossover: a fighter who achieved mainstream success and chose to come back to build an underground promotion.

Paulie Malignaggi: Boxing Star Goes Bare Knuckle

A former WBA welterweight champion who crossed over to BKFC after a public feud with Conor McGregor. His loss to Artem Lobov in 2019 was one of the highest-profile bare knuckle events in modern history. See BKFC PPV streaming guide.

The Russian Pipeline

The most active crossover pipeline runs from Strelka to Top Dog FC. Fighters prove themselves in Strelka's chaotic street fighting format and graduate to Top Dog's higher-production bare knuckle events. Several Top Dog champions began their careers in Strelka.

UK Bare Knuckle Ladder

In the UK, the pathway runs from KOTS (fully underground) to UBKB or BKB (semi-regulated) to BKFC UK (fully sanctioned). This ladder system allows fighters to progressively increase their level of competition and pay.
